IT for US

The project Information Technology for Understanding Science aims to design a modular in-service training course for science teachers and to create the supporting courseware materials. The materials for teacher training exemplify innovative pedagogy which exploits the unique qualities of IT. The focus is on four types of software application related to practical science featuring constructivist approach: data-logging, video measurement, modeling and simulation.

The project started in 2005 as co - operation the partners: AMSTEL - Amsterdam Mathematics Science Technology Education Laboratory, University of Amsterdam; FCTUNL - College of Sciences and Technology, New University of Lisbon; University of Leicester - School of Education; UCY - University of Cyprus, Department of Educational Science; Pedagogical University of Cracow - Chair of Computer Science.

Our Centre is a coordinator of the project.

The project is supported by Socrates Comenius (Action 2.1. Training of School Education Staff)

CoLabs

We take part in Minerva project guided by Márta Turcsányi-Szabó form Eötvös Loránd University, Informatics Methodology Group.

Objectives of the project:
Our major challenge is to find ways to support children in building and testing models collaboratively across European cultures and beyond. Our objectives are to provide infrastructure for collaborative work; to provide answers for guiding research questions: with whom, how and what kinds of knowledge should children learn at a distance and how best can they be supported in this learning; and to develop learning tools that can be transferable into other domains using the Imagine authoring system.

IITE UNESCO

Our Centre is a national focal point of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE)

UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education

The mission of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education is to strengthen the national capacities of UNESCO Member States for applying ICTs in education.

While accomplishing this mission during the period of the first IITE Medium-Term Strategy (2002-2007), the Institute will assist UNESCO Member States in providing the following: an effective educational strategy, overcoming the digital knowledge divide between developing and developed countries and within them, and the creation of necessary conditions for their full value participation in the development of the evolving information society.

Schoolnet

In 2000 our portal for teachers - Edukus (www.oeiizk.edu.pl) together with Ministry of National Education and Sport were the polish partners of Schoolnet (www.eun.org). Now such a partner is Interkl@sa (www.interklasa.pl).

We are involved in preparing polish translation of materials from:
Virtual School (www.eun.org/vs)
School Managers Centre (smc.eun.org)

ICTime

Project ICTime - ICT as a tool of intercultural and media education aims at supporting teachers, teacher educators and students in the use of ICT in intercultural and media education.

Within the project two photo contests for school children were organised and very well attended among young people all over Europe. The team of teacher trainers form Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Romania has prepared a course for teachers, piloted and implemented in the participating countries.
